Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by Becky A — 14 Apr 2013
(Please note that this review is based on the EXTENDED EDITION, not the theatrical cut).
This film cannot be put into words. It's basically just stunning in virtually every department. If I had to nitpick, I would talk about the Lothlorien scene. In the book, this is a lot longer (even the extended edition, in which Lothlorien is probably the most extended scene, does not portray half of what happens), and instead of the beauty and wonder of the elves, we get...
CREEPINESS.
Despite this small pick of mine, "Fellowship" remains an incredibly thrilling and emotionally stunning feat, one that many filmmakers cannot have claimed to have done.
