Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by Shane D — 27 Jun 2016
It gets four stars only because of the fact that it takes well into the second hour to really start to grab your attention. Sure, LOTR die hard fans will find every minute worth savouring, but it takes a long time to get the "fellowship" in formation.
Similarly to the first Hobbit film, the setup is what makes this the weakest of the three films. However, once Mortensen arrives on the scene the action and adventure ramps up and it settles into the rhythm that makes The Two Towers an AMAZINGLY epic film.
