Review of The Lookout (2007) by Espen G — 11 Jan 2009
This was a very enjoyable movie with several great characters. If you're looking for a traditional "heist" movie, this isn't it. Yes, there's a heist, but this movie is about the people, not the robbery.
I found the movie engaging all the way through. And while you pretty-much know what's going to happen, there are still a few suprises in the end. The only flaw in an otherwise tight script was the girlfriend.
I found it interesting that in the commentary we learn that the actress and director disagreed as to her motivation. Her role should have been made more clear. Overall, I recommend watching this movie, just to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt's portrayal of the main character.
It is truly wonderful.
