Review of The Longest Day (1962) by Steve G — 24 Nov 2013
Finally saw it, after 15 years of planning to! A beautiful dedication to one of the most important days in history. It's reverent & strives for accuracy. Certainly worth watching, if for no other reason, historical purposes.
One sense's much love in the project. However, eventually, all the fighting seems to blend together, & it's difficult to keep track of who's who & what's what. Especially since all the fighting scenes tend to look similar.
In that regard, it gets bogged down, & lacks emotional character investment. Mitchum stole the show, for my money. Irina Demick was hot.
