Review of The Long Ships (1964) by Martin B — 28 Nov 2010
Yes, It's time for some hardboiled hollywood viking action again.
It's the story of the nothern viking guy going south and loses ship and crew and goes back home, steals another ship and goes looking for some really big byzatian golden bell.
Richard Vidmark, more known in fighting WW2 in black and white plays the storytelling and friendly viking who is caght up by the evil morish prince played by Sidney Poitier.
The hairy northerners ends up in captivity and they have also taken a viking princess as prisoner. The black morish prince however has got a wife much looking like Elisabeth Taylor that hasn't been layed in weeks who helps out.
Actually better than "the Vikings" but more or less silly all the time.
