Review of The Long, Long Trailer (1954) by Jennifer H — 09 Jul 2010
Let's face the facts. The starring couple is Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Since the general public is aware of the show 'I Love Lucy'- and in love with it- then what other proof is needed to convince others that this film is worth the watch?
The foreseeable tremors between a newly wed couple is a concept hardly original when it comes to the pair of Ball and Arnaz. That's about all that anyone ever saw the couple do in their show; bicker and fight about differences then come to the end seeing eye to eye. Even though the concept is old, Ball and Arnaz mastered the art of comical couple fighting which shows in this movie.
If you do not have the chance to watch the entire movie just watch the part where Lucy is trying to prepare dinner for Desi while he's driving. Desi drives through rough terrain, takes tight turns, travels up and down through steep hills and, sometimes, veers off the road only to pull back in a quick motion. Lucy falls, bumps, trips, and stumbles against the wall in her attempt to catch the food that's falling over the stove and counters. The scene is, by far, the most humorous of all Lucy scenes ever comprehended. It's a good watch.
