Review of The Long, Hot Summer (1958) by Patrick B — 28 Jun 2008
Like a Falknerian version of "Picnic (1955)" with more than a hint of Tennessee Williams. Good. However, the smoldering ashes that sparked within the first twenty minutes of the film, didn't become quite the firestorm I was hoping for.
The dialog, cinematography, and score were excellent. I still like "Picnic" better, but I also saw it first.
