Review of The Long, Hot Summer (1958) by John R — 30 May 2015
I was surprised by Martin Ritt's film. Based on a collection of Faulkner's short stories -- the idea of a filmmaker attempting to capture Faulker's work on screen -- especially in 1958 -- seems like an impossible task.
But Ritt pulled it off. Paul Newman is excellent -- and erotically beautiful.
