It's a "fuck-you-world" kind movie. To think that this rapes Chandler's novel is to misunderstand the changes of the world. They are they same story, but they are part of two different worlds.
Our insanity, our hatred, our love and our loyalties are changing. I can't wait until someone updates The Long Goodbye for the 2000s and reflects Chandler and the world accurately as this film did for the 1970s.
