Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Codie E — 18 May 2008
Inventive and entertaining, with the slacker mood really contrasting interestingly with the usual starch structure of film noir, but this was also sort of its downfall. There is a real joy in the predictability and honed set up of traditional film noir that this film obviously, and purposely lacked.
My other criticism would be that other than Gould's Marlowe and Sterling Hayden there was a lack of detailed or really interesting character.
