Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Matthew S — 12 Apr 2015
A cinematic masterpiece that remains largely unknown to the majority of film fans. If not his finest work, it is close to it and Robert Altman's film is brilliant. It sways, swaggers and wanders to it's unique beat but always to the same melody.
THE LONG GOODBYE is a beautiful and sleepy sort of cinematic poetry. Not to be missed. Kino Lober has reissued the film to blu-ray with some cool extra features. Sadly, it has not been re-mastered well.
This was a movie that I have always wished Criterion would release. But this disc is worth every penny.
