Review of The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927) by Michelle G — 20 Dec 2008
This is now my favorite Hitchcock piece. It was Vertigo, but now that's second favorite. Hitch's cinematography fits the silent era much better than the talkies or 'scope, and The Lodger is his most famous silent film.
The plot is a little flimsy, but the camera effects and acting melded with the new orchestral score for the Fox/MGM edition really makes the film completely enthralling.
