Review of The Lobster (2015) by Choppy — 02 Aug 2016
Pretty good. You've got to be able to appreciate dark humor, which many of the negative reviewers clearly don't: if you hate dark humor, you will hate this movie.
It's a meditation on the difficulty of relationship, negative feelings about being single, etc. While the metaphors don't always make sense, enough of them land with enough force to make this one of the few movies that makes you actually think, and leave you with a strong impression for a long time afterward. And that's way more than most movies accomplish these days.
Yes, the third act drags and it would have benefited from a bit of editing, but overall better than 90% of what comes through theaters these days.
