Review of The Lineup (1958) by Brad G — 10 Aug 2010
"In my profession, there's one thing I dislike and that's hearing someone's last words. You know, famous last words." Don Siegel (who would later return to San Francisco with Dirty Harry) directs this cat & mouse dual narrative with succinct professionalism, but it's Eli Wallach and Robert Keith's student/teacher drug runners that keep you glued to the screen.
The film ignites with a whambam crackup action sequence that quickly sets the tone, but I gotta say I was less interested in the police procedural than the film's more nefarious activities. More Wallach! Still, solid crime picture.
