Review of The Limits of Control (2009) by Ilari T — 18 Aug 2011
The most political film in Jarmusch's filmography. It's also the most boring film, to be honest (still, it's worth to watch and much more enjoyable than most of the films). I think this is strong criticism, from Jarmusch's "subjective viewpoint," against US foreign policies of today, and I personally agree with his standpoint.
Originally humorous lines, efficient use of fashionable small items, mysterious and original characters, excitement to watch famous actors come and go, and excellent use of soundtrack to make shi-fi-ish atmosphere while showing materials shot almost all in location.
.. these are all attractive, but still, somehow it's not as strongly touchy as other works by him. You can at least see where Jarmusch is trying to go. This film will be criticized as his second etude, once he will have done with next film.
