Review of The Life of Emile Zola (1937) by Tim C — 16 Aug 2007
I just saw this, and it is embedded into my memory and my favs I am surprised! It is about Emile Zola, and how he stood up for an gave voice to the oppressed realities of France in his lifetime. But the movie is really about Alfred Dreyfus and how Zola helped him out even though he was blamed for a crime he did not commit.
Best Picture of the year 1937 and with good reason, hinting about Hitler in Europe but also recongizing the American and global reality of the Depression as well. Must see! Also, if you really look at this film now, it makes you somewhat inquisitive about the methods Bush has been using too :-).
