Review of The Libertine (2004) by Danno A — 24 Feb 2008
I despised this movie when I first saw it, I think mostly due to the picture quality I just. couldn't get past that aggravating grain. I was probably really dexed out, so this would have been a monumental mountain made of a mole hill moldering away in my mind GRIND GRIND GRIND/.
On second viewing, however, I remember precise moments that probably got me in the gut JUST SO and to a degree such that every loathsome wretched judgmental part of me was so viscerally repulsed and reminded all too harshly of past repulsions that I had no way of reconciling my obvious feelings of sympathy with a reasonable respect, instead permanently etching a memory of/a memory of/a memory of/.
