Review of The Libertine (2004) by Clare O — 26 Feb 2008
Shot entirely by candlelight or daylight, this movie has a beguilingly beautiful look and is much more than the bawdy romp some people assume it is. Possibly Johnny Depp's best-ever performance and he and Samantha Morton have incredible chemistry: two high-school dropouts evoking the soul of Restoration poetry and drama.
Ironic and wonderful.
