Review of The Libertine (2004) by Shannon M — 21 Jan 2010
Johnny Depp is incredibly entertaining as the Earl of Rochester, while the unconventional candlelight aesthetic paints an ugly, highly accurate portrait of 17th century England. It's unfortunate that the patchwork script inevitably produces a thematically muddled film.
