Review of The Libertine (2004) by Martin R — 21 Apr 2010
Powerful opening monologue which unfortunately leads to a rather large let down. I believe the director was not sure himself if he liked Wilmot. The film itself was visually interesting...but unfortunately I think something was lost in translation.
The screen play is written by the same person who wrote the play this film is based off of...unfortunately I think too much was left out from the original piece to keep things as interesting and well coherent.
I suggest giving the play a google read, then watch the film.
