Review of The Leopard (1963) by Michael S — 12 Jul 2008
Despite it's epic setting, a surprisingly subtle and understated film (except for Lancaster's chops). Probably one of the most alluring casts ever assembled. The Prince of Salina--the Leopard--hands over his fortune, his family name, his class, and his better judgment to the obnoxious Sedara, a kind of Monsieur Homais sort.
This is hard to watch, must have been harder to perform, and Lancaster does it superbly.
