Review of The Leopard (1963) by Kevin S — 23 Jun 2007
The Burt Lancaster plays the patriarch of a 2000 year old aristocratic family witnessing the dawn of the Modern era and the passing of the Ancien Regime. "We were the leopards, the lions, those who take our place will be jackals and sheep, and the whole lot of us - leopards, lions, jackals and sheep - will continue to think ourselves the salt of the earth").
This is a little pretentious, but it makes a great companion peice to Nietzsche's "Genealogy of Morals".
