Review of The Legend of Tarzan (2016) by Sara R — 09 Dec 2016
Being a Tarzan fan from as far back as I can recall (Thank you Disney). And having read the first 4 books. I really do enjoy this movie for its refreshing twist to the classic Tarzan tale. Is it absolutely perfect with the writing and the plot? Of course not. I honestly don't think we'll ever see something that perfect. However, considering the quality of what films and tv shows we've had so far. This is the best Tarzan film to date. It references not only the first book in flashbacks but also other books in the series. It's not the same old "Wild man in the jungle that needs to be civilized!".
Also, being an Anthropology major, I am in love with the representation of the native Congo people. We see so many stories that are bad representations or the white man conquers the savage natives. This is not one of those films. Watch it again with a better perspective of the people and the story and then try and tell me it's rotten.
