Review of The Legend of Tarzan (2016) by Mark W — 17 Jul 2016
Skarsgard made a good Tarzan. Robbie made a pretty decent remade-to-modern-sensibilities Jane. Samuel L Jackson was not a good fit for his character. Every time he opened his mouth, he made me think he was playing a contemporary character rather than someone from the 1880's.
Way too over-the-top. The movie itself felt like it was trying to be 2 movies in 1 (one backstory and one current story). The result made the story feel muddled. Some aspects of the story simply weren't believable.
Certain groups of people/animals went from being Tarzan's enemy to being his friend pretty much at the drop of a hat.
