This film has been underestimated by critics and audiences alike. It is not as bad as everyone says it is. True it is not perfect but so what! It has great performances, some funny scenes, and some action so it's not a total loss.
What weights this film down is the recognizably cartoonish special effects, and a less than intriguing plot and villain. But Connery is able to keep the picture afloat.
