Review of The Laughing Policeman (1973) by David S — 02 Jul 2007
Little known crime film from the 70s with Matthau giving an uncommonly serious performance. The film is bookended with a terrific opening murder sequence and a genuinely suspenseful climax, but everything between is rather sluggish.
Character and performances are good and its well directed so interest is never totally lost, but its a struggle at points.
