Review of The Laughing Policeman (1973) by Christopher S — 11 Aug 2007
Gritty, sleazy, oddball, and often very dated policier that teams up grim Walter Matthau (who was on a crime film streak after Charlie Varrick) and nutty Bruce Dern (who seems to be playing his character from The Driver, only with an enormous moustache) trying to solve a sick multiple murder in post-'60s San Francisco.
Lou Gossett is very good -- and gets a handful of great lines -- as one of their fellow cops.
