Review of The Last Winter (2006) by Jacob G — 13 Apr 2009
I wanted to rate this higher, but in the end the movie fails to deliver. My roommate said, "Don't bother", but I didn't listen. I thought he was crazy until the last ten minutes. Now I'm left saying the same thing: Don't bother, please.
I've always thought that the idea of nature rebelling against modern humanity to be rather compelling. Unfortunately, The Last Winter takes that good starting point and goes seriously wrong with it.
I could go into the obnoxious environmental message, but instead I'm going to harp about the ridiculous foray into spiritualism and ghosts. It didn't make a single lick of sense as people went crazy and died.
.. and all we have to blame is some evil ghost elk? Fail.
