Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Ricardo Z — 27 Feb 2008
This is some brilliant shit right here. Unlike the Mel's shit stain of a movie, this doesn't guilt trip you. This film portrays Jesus as more human than divine. It shows him as unsure, confused, and most importantly scared. This is probably the most realistic way of telling the story of Christ. And of course everyone would go ape shit over it.
What really gets me the most about this masterpiece, are the sounds. It has some great background noise and sound effects in it. Really great. Willem Dafoe is just amazing and Harvey Keitel is great too. The critical reaction to this film really should what is wrong with religion. This is an incredible work.
