Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Nick G — 05 Dec 2010
Interesting take on the humanity of Christ through the events of Gospels, a lot of which is not much different from Gospels' portrayal of Christ (pain, confusion, hints of rebellion). The story is also not so dissimilar to what Dostoevsky does in The Idiot, where he attempts to create a Christ figure who is completely human.
The reversal of Judas' role was also interesting, in that his betrayal is shown as an act of obedience. The only part that didn't seem to fit was Paul's role near the end, as he bases his faith on the reactions he assumes he will get rather than the truth of events.
