Review of The Last Station (2009) by Johnny A — 20 Jun 2010
I think that probably they have modified some of the real facts to make a more interesting story, but they create a very good atmosphere showing a Tolstoi more tolerant and comprehensive than his own followers, a wife that loves her husband but at the same time doesn´t understand his objectives and is domained by last ambition (and also defends a common love story along years, even with hysteria), and good secondaries stories with different characters that show the fight between love to couple or love to mankind, following ideals vs tolerance, imposing something or follow the master versus find your own way.
The best point about the plot is its lack of manicheism, showing that everybody has a part of reason and their motives to act that way. Scenography is quite interesting. Oustanding actings from every actors, but Helen Mirren was particularly exceptional.
You must stay after the movie to see the credits, you´ll llike what you see.
