Review of The Last Station (2009) by Manuel M — 17 Aug 2010
The dynamics between Mirren and Plummer were great, and certainly worthy of Oscar nominations. This was a movie to watch simply for Plummer and Mirren's acting. Overall the film let the audience analyze the relationship between Tolstoy and his wife, but there were a few dull or too open-ended moments.
This wasn't a birth-to-death biopic, but a focused one - and that worked wonders and prevented it from being just another Tolstoy biopic. Sadly, in its entirety, the movie was a boring - McAvoy's yummy-ness made up for it though.
