Review of The Last Shot (2004) by Manny C — 23 Mar 2011
Not much in movies is more annoying than one that could have been so much better than it actually is, and The Last Shot, which retells the true events of a struggling filmmaker who gets his first film greenlighted only to discover he's a pawn in a mob sting orchestrated by the FBI, is a prime example.
Matthew Broderick is said stooge, Alec Baldwin is the fed, and a cast of great actors round things out, including Tony Shalhoub, Buck Henry and Calista Flockhart. Unfortunately the only laughs to be found come from a potty-mouthed Joan Cusack and Toni Collette as a movie diva.
Writer-director Jeff Nathanson's (Catch Me If You Can, Rush Hour) script, but it lacks any sort of...anything. It's dead on arrival.
