Review of The Last Legion (2007) by Graham D — 08 Sep 2012
Big budget adaptation of a fairly ridiculous fantasy novel. Sadly the budget did not seemingly extend to martial training & conditioning for the actors & it is subsequently difficult to suspend disbelief in the fight scenes.
Colin Firth valiantly demonstrates he does not have the commanding presence of a shakespearian actor in his rally the troops speech whilst ben kingsleys talent cannot rescue the sorry scripting and dialog.
Hilights of the film have to be the physics defying stone statue in the opening scene and the plastic sword that is the stories centerpiece.
