Review of The Last Legion (2007) by Jeramie K — 27 Mar 2013
It's hard to take a film seriously that doesn't take itself seriously, which is exactly the case with The Last Legion.
The star, if there is one, was Ben Kingsley. He puts his back and heart into a film that he had to have known was going to flop before filming even started. And you have to respect the work he did under these circumstances.
The film is a retread trying to mince Arthurian legend into oblivion and seems to have , outside of some language, targeted small children as an audience.
How else is the the lack of character development, shoddy set design, and party favor style props explained other than the leaders of this film simply did not care.
IN that regard it's impossible to take this project seriously, much less respect it.
