Review of The Last American Virgin (1982) by Zack H — 01 Feb 2008
One of the first outrageous teen comedies with a dash of heart. It isn't brilliant filmmaking by any means. The characters are thin, most the gags are half-baked and the ending doesn't make much logical sense, but this film is as old as I am.
The fact that some of it still holds up says something about the power of honest comedy. And yes, there's a lot of contrivances here too (the nerd character is just blatantly cheesy), but if you can look past most of them, you might find a decent little film.
Just be prepared for the downer ending.
