Review of The Land That Time Forgot (1974) by Monsieur R — 25 Jan 2011
The Land That Time Forgot (1975) -- [4.5] -- The crew of a German submarine and the survivors of a ship they torpedoed band together on a mysterious island full of dinosaurs and cave people in this British production.
It takes a long while to get to the island, so much so that it feels like an entirely different movie once you're there. The dinosaur effects are achieved Godzilla-style, with men stomping around in rubber suits.
Effects not withstanding, the movie does muster a palpable sense of prehistoric atmosphere and the ending is admirably bleak.
