Review of The Lady Vanishes (1938) by Ryan H — 14 Mar 2008
Hammy and unrealistic acting, as well as plot at times, but nonetheless and enjoyable pre-Hollywood Hitchcock flick. Not nearly his best pre-Hollywood work though (The 39 Steps is the best from that era).
Michael Redgrave and Margaret Lockwood were brilliant together and it's a shame they didn't star in several other films together as potential love partners because their onscreen chemistry explodes out of the screen in The Lady Vanishes.
It's pretty damn epic.
