Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Mike F — 16 Aug 2007
The finest screwball comedy ever written, Sturges kept putting aside the writing of the script then coming back to it, finally crafting one of the top ten romantic comedy scripts ever produced. This film is NOT dated, is as fresh as the day it was made.
Every character in the movie, major or minor, jumps off the screen. Stanwyck's finest comic performance made all the funnier by Fonda's wonderful straightman schtick. A delight...
