Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Douglas P — 12 Nov 2008
The first half of this film is prime and perfect comedy. The dialogue rolls at an unbelievable pace, and Sturges in his own devilish way comments on the social classes and how foolish and emotionally unkempt the rich are. Sturges paints a great comedy that has earned its place in Hollywood. Lacks the heart of 'Sullivan's Travels' but it makes up for that in reckless abandon.
Never thought Barbara Stanwyck was sexy until I saw her rubbing her fingers through a nervous Hank Fonda's hair.
