Review of The Lady Eve (1941) by Scott S — 22 Aug 2013
This barely works. Not quite screwball comedy, not quite satire. Stanwyck was great. The whole topsy-turvy of gender roles didn't really strike me as that significant. Hawks had already pulled that shit with Kate Hepburn.
The only difference here is the pussification of the male role, which is mostly lame because it just makes Fonda less charming.
