Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Michael O — 29 Nov 2008
You know what? In many ways this movie is superior to Taxi Driver and at the same time accompanies it gracefully. This is a radical post-modernist treat about the nature of the artist and the sacrifices that must be made.
That and it's absolutely hilarious! The style and direction are way ahead of their time! I'm telling you this takes more than one screening because it fuses dreams and reality so well.
Classic cinema! Classic De Niro! Very modern Scorsese!
