Review of The King and I (1956) by Nate W — 16 Sep 2008
While not as energetic as most musicals, "The King and I" is still big-budget spectacle at it's height. The lavish production design and costuming is a sight to behold (particularly the Uncle Tom's Cabin sequence).
Yul Brynner gives a charismatic performance as the titular king, who beneath his posturing and bravado, conceals a conflicted mind and heart.
