Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Amanda Y — 23 Jun 2007
The plot is very simple, the owner of a strip club owes $23,000 dollars to gangster who own a poker hall. He must kill someone in order to clean off his debt and keep his club. Cassavetes takes us through every hesitation and reservation of Cosmo Vitelli so we really feel we know him.
He is also strongly humanised, he enjoys what he does even if many would consider it immoral.
