Review of The Keep (1983) by Philip M — 07 Nov 2007
"what the fuck is going on?".
Really it is not surprising that the studio buried MM's first full blown film.
The book is excellent of its type and reads like it would transfer well to the silver screen, but what you end up with is comedy-bad-Nazi's and lots of nothing happening and then a rubber-suit monster climax, although set to one of Tangerine Dream's best scores. For a while this became a lost film, hunted out by collecters and afficinardos and the OST has never been released.
Actualy, it's not bad at all, the cast dot the best of a bad job, being stuck at the arse end of nowhere during the filming; and the 'what is evil?' plot is quite gripping.
It could almost do with a remake...
