Review of The Karate Kid (2010) by Ryancarroll88 — 25 Aug 2010
In probably one of the biggest reversal of expectations I've had for a movie for a while, I really liked the new 'Karate Kid.' It was similar enough to the 1984 original to conjure nostalgia, but carried its own charm that really made it worthwhile to see.
At 140 minutes the movie is long (especially for now when most people complain when a movie is more than 2 hours), but it uses the running time wisely - both to give depth to Dre's character, and do something that summer blockbusters rarely so these days: build anticipation.
