Review of The Karate Kid (2010) by Youngwarlock — 24 Jul 2018
So, I really enjoyed the locations, and also the training an learning process of the main character - but partly, characters were very badly portraied: the asian girl Meiying (what is even her character like apart from smiling at the protagonist?does she get into the music academy in the end or not?)and his mother (unrealistic? she lets a 12 year old do hardcore workout all day?)are two of them.
Another thing I had to notice is that the title is misleading (its obviously not a film about karate), and that there are no girls or women involved in the kung fu school at all (chinese women have practised martial arts from early times, too!?).
The story is predictable - not completely boring, yet.
In the end of the day, it is not a bad film. But don´t expect anything deep.
