Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Dann M — 24 Jul 2017
Walt Disney continues their live- action adaptions of their animated classics with Jon Faveau's The Jungle Book (though live-action is a bit misleading as all the animals are CGI creations). When a tiger named Shere Khan threatens to kill a boy who's been raised by a wolf pack, they decide to return him to the local human village for his own protection, but the trek is a long and dangerous one.
Featuring the voice talents of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, and Scarlett Johansson, the film has an impressive cast. And the computer animation his exceptionally good and remarkable photorealistic (though the seams show from time to time).
Also, the score does a nice job at working in the original themes and songs from the animated version. However, nothing is really gained from the live-action format. Still, The Jungle Book is a solid family film that's entertaining and fun.
