"The Jungle Book" may have some of the most captivating visual effects ever put to film, and a cast of A-List celebrities, but when photorealism takes precedence over any semblance of a relatable plot, and the actors sound like they would rather be anywhere else but in the recording booth, it's hard to see your film as anything but a shallow, uninvolved remake of a beloved classic.
