Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Grifty G — 16 Aug 2008
A bit slow, but it's the sort of movie I'd really like to see again, and it probably gets better with multiple viewings. You can really see where the new Ocean's 11 series got its inspiration. (Certainly not from the original Ocean's 11, as, judging from the first half hour or so, that movie was painfully boring.).
The red, white, and blue mini cooper chase scene is priceless. And, of course, Michael Caine is LOVELY.
Interesting to note that the film's rated G. It's got enough sexual innuendo to give it a PG rating nowadays (PG-13 at the very most)...I don't understand why nobody makes movies like this anymore.
